First Sight

On the surface, First sight seems like an unusually nice poem about the birth of lambs during the winter months. However the point behind this poem is to show that, when the Lamb is born they are introduced to the harsh world during the winter months and they immediately presume that this comparatively barren world is the world that they will now live in and it will be tough going. Therefore it will be a shock to them to see how much the world will change when spring comes around.
